The TEHAF booth, in partnership with the Ottawa Tamil Association (OTA), featured a community kitchen serving traditional Tamil dishes, with all proceeds directed toward humanitarian projects in Tamil Eelam. Attendees enjoyed a day of unity and joy, contributing to causes that address the ongoing challenges faced by Tamils due to Sri Lanka’s genocidal policies, economic crisis, and military occupation. “The energy at Ottawa Tamil Fest was incredible, and we’re grateful for the Tamil diaspora’s unwavering support in building a better future for our people,” said a FGTO representative. This event builds on OTA’s longstanding commitment to TEHAF through its annual Fall Donation Campaign. For the past three years, OTA has channeled funds raised via online platforms like GoFundMe to TEHAF, supporting small and medium-scale humanitarian initiatives. The 2024 campaign, the 10th annual effort, focused on aiding Eelam Tamils affected by genocide and hardship, with donations directly benefiting organizations like Aram USA for educational support, Uyirilai Spinal Cord Injury Association in Vanni for differently-abled individuals, and Aalam Viluthugal for underprivileged families in Tamil Eelam. Similar campaigns in previous years have consistently prioritized TEHAF, emphasizing Tamil Genocide recognition and self-determination.In 2025, TEHAF continues its mission by funding key projects, including a grant to Healing Opportunity for Persons for Empowerment (HOPE) in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.
